  • Steve man,

You are right. In the most exhilarating political season of our life time, I thought this group would have something to say. There are too many great minds in here to remain silent. Speak up people!!!

Now that Senator Obama has wrapped up the nomination, how do you think the Rev. Wright issue will play out in the general election? Don't be shy. We know the 527s are loadin' for bear. What's the move for the Magic Negro?
    • I'm trying to decide who he should pick as his running mate. I have always thought it should be Edwards-at least, if he is good at numbers or has a shared vision of what Obama wants to accomplish. They do photograph well together..and that's not shallow thinking. We Americans tend to be moved alot by how things look than how things are. They look like a healthy, attractive, likeable team together. He has to pick someone that not only has the smarts to help him with our economy, but who we Americans will be drawn to. By the way, I don't know who has Wright tied up and gagged in their basement right now, but all I have to say is Thank God! That man...so, so selfish! I am not saying he did not have valid points, but he was adviously taking advantage of the situation for his own gain. 100 to 1 odds the man is going to announce a book deal soon. As much of a soldier of the black people as he perpetrated himself to be, he never learned the lessons of such literature as Spook Who Sat By The Door. You wait until the opportune moment. You do your work from the inside out. If he had used that tack, and Obama does get elected, think of the clout he would have enjoyed. No, we have more important things to consider with this election than Wright's bruised ego.
      • Edwards doesn't really bring much to the table. As Kerry's running mate in 2004, he didn't win North Carolina or even his own damn precinct. Ed Rendell of PA might be a good choice - as PA is a swing state. Somebody with defense cred like Sam Nunn or Wesley Clark could balance the ticket. Some folks have mentioned Bill Richardson who has excellent credentials, but I ain't so sure America is ready for a brother and a half-Mexican on the same ticket. There's lots of choices. How much difference does a VP choice really make?
        • Usually, maybe not much, but this time..as you said, the Mexican dude couldn't be put on because of Obama, so this time, it is going to be tricky. i would have liked to see Obama and Hillary together, once upon a time, but not after seeing the shabby and delinquent way she has run her campaign. She definitely let her slip show, and it's dirty as hell! I just don't know who would be good. I'm too busy being pissed right now at Huckabee. Seems he made a passing joke in a speech recently about somebody aiming a gun at Obama. It was done for a quick laugh, but I don't find it the least bit funny.
